This year marks the 31st anniversary of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports.

Again this year, coaches from Catawba's women's teams nominated student-athletes who they believe exemplify the four components of the Catawba College mission statement: Scholarship. Character. Culture. Service.. The student-athletes nominated also highlight not only athletic success, but also academic achievement along with community involvement.

The Department of Sport & Health Sciences recognized the nominees on Wednesday, February 22 during halftime of the men's basketball game.
