Catawba College's Theatre Arts program has been selected as one of the top in the country and is profiled in the newest edition of "Creative Colleges: A Guide for Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians and Writers." Catawba's program is one of only 250 programs included in the fourth edition of this book by author Elaina Loveland.
The publication aims to provide college-bound "creative students" with information and resources necessary to pick the right college program for them. Programs profiled are offered at arts conservatories, liberal arts colleges and universities.
Catawba College's Blue Masque, the institution's dramatic society for students, was established in 1925, the year the college reopened in Salisbury after relocating from Newton, N.C. Since that time, the society has staged plays that have become renowned for the quality of interpretation and acting. Professor Christopher Zink chairs the Theatre Arts Department at Catawba.
