All former Catawba College choir members are invited to participate in a very special Choir Alumni Reunion July 8 and 9 on campus! Choir alumni are invited to bring their families and return for a weekend of music making.
Events get underway Friday, July 8, with check in slated at the Williams Music Building on campus between 4 and 6 p.m. A Presidential Welcome Reception follows between 7 and 9 p.m. at the home of College President and First Lady, Robert and Brenda Knott.
Saturday, July 9, campus tours for alumni and their families will depart from the Hedrick Administration Building beginning at 9 a.m. Choir rehearsal is scheduled between 10 a.m. and noon in the Omwake-Dearborn Chapel and after a lunch break, choir rehearsal resumes between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., again in the chapel. The Alumni Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel, followed by a post-performance dessert, hosted by the Lilly Center, in the chapel basement.
Professor Rosemary Kinard, head of the Choral Program at the College, will serve as music coordinator for the weekend, but music direction of the alumni choir will be shared by past and present directors of the Catawba College Choirs, including Lawrence Bond, Jeffrey Jimison, Gilbert Pirovano and Robert Weaver. Accompanist will be organist Janie Robert Rollins’ 78, assisted by the Catawba Brass Ensemble.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring several generations of music students together to review acquaintances, relive fond memories, learn to know new people, and make music together,” said Dr. Renee McCachren, chair of the music department.
Alumni should contact Salisbury hotels for accommodations for the weekend. For more details and to register, contact the Catawba College Alumni Office at 704-637-4394.
