A free production of "Charlotte's Web," will be offered by Catawba College's Theatre Arts Department at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, October 23-25, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Florence Busby Corriher Theatre on campus. Suitable for all ages, this stage adaptation of the classic children's novel by E.B. White is offered by Catawba's first-year students and is the second student-directed show of the season.
Professor Joe Hernandez, the newest member of the college's theatre arts faculty, serves as the faculty advisor to student director, senior Maggie Truxell of Cherry Hill, N.J. Stage manager is senior Dominique Clarke of Kannapolis. Other student leaders on the production include junior transfer, Brandon Engelskirchen of Concord, senior Donna Steele of Charlotte, junior Jacquelyn Loy of Burlington, and senior Katie Higgins of Durham.
A cast of first-year performers is another unique feature for this show. The first-year students in the production are Ryan Walker of Alexandria, Va.; Leanna Hicks of Richmond, Va.; Caitlin Geisser of Vineland, N.J.; Brandon Walls of Worton, Md.; Naomi Ansano of Durham; Si Waugh of Catawba; Brandon Engelskirchen of Concord; Morgan Summers of Gastonia; Sam Yeager of Salisbury; George Glass of Concord; Kassandra Tuttle of Arden; Jean White of Bluffton, S.C.; Caitlin Billings of High Point; Daniel Brown of Chinquapin; Martha Brucker of Kings Mt.; Dontre Lawrence of Statesville; and Melissa Tarduno of Indian Trail.
