Catawba College's Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology inducted five new members on November 14. The new members are Timothy Conner of Statesville; Madelin Contreras of Salisbury; Kedtrin Gallagher of Little River, S.C.; Leah Ryan of Westborough, Mass.; and Ellen Stout of Statesville.
Dr. Lyn Boulter, a professor psychology at Catawba, serves as advisor for Psi Chi.

Catawba College's chapter of Psi Chi inducted two of seven new members Monday evening, April 24, 2017. Marcia-Mariel Erhart of Rodgau, Germany, a Psychology and Math double major, and Rebecca Bradford of Quinton, Va., an Exercise Science major and Psychology minor, bring the number of student members of the chapter to 22.
Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, was founded in 1929 with a mission to encourage excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology. Along with more than 700,000 lifetime members, including Distinguished Members such as Drs. Albert Bandura, B. F. Skinner, and Phillip Zimbardo, Marcia and Rebecca now have access to multiple membership benefits including international recognition for academic excellence, and access to three publications and more than $400,000 in annual awards and grants.
Undergraduate students are eligible to join Psi Chi if they are a major or minor in Psychology, have completed at least 3 semesters of full-time college coursework and at least 9 semester credit hours Psychology courses, have a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35% of their class, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA average for Psychology courses. Inductions to Psi Chi occur most spring and fall semesters.
Dr. Lyn Boulter, Professor Emerita of Psychology, was the chapter advisor for over two decades and Dr. Erin Wood took the reins in the fall of 2015 when Dr. Boulter retired.
