Dr. Julie Rhyne Chamberlain, an Associate Professor of Musicand the Director of the Sacred Music Concentration at Catawba College, recently received Wingate University's Distinguished Alumni Award, that University's highest alumni honor.
The award honors alumni who, through professional excellence and personal dedication, have been leaders in their communities and exemplify the institution's motto of Faith, Knowledge and Service.
Dr. Chamberlain earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, cum laude from Wingate University, Master of Music and Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and additional studies through the Hartt School of Music, Hartford, Connecticut.
A faculty member at Catawba College since 1989, Dr. Chamberlain has had the honor of receiving numerous awards including the Kenneth Clapp Tri-Delta Award for “dedication, devotion and dependability“ and the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award for noble character. During the 2010-2011 academic year, she had the privilege of serving as the Swink Professor for Excellence in Teaching, the highest honor for classroom teaching at Catawba.
