For over 16 years, Dr. Sharon Daloz Parks served as a member of the faculty and a researcher at Harvard University’s Schools of Divinity, Business, and the Kennedy School of Government.   She is currently an associate director and member of the faculty at the Whidbey Institute in Clinton, Washington.   She is a nationally known author, lecturer, and consultant in the fields of leadership and ethics.

The Catawba College Community Forum and the Lilly Center for Vocation and Values at Catawba College are pleased to announce that Dr. Parks will appear at the next Forum on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.   The title of her presentation is: Citizens or Consumers?

The Re-imagination of Adulthood for a Changing World.   Dr. Parks’ talk is one part of this year’s “Lilly Colloquium” which features several appearances by Dr. Parks over a two-day period on campus.   (Many of you will remember last year’s Lilly Colloquium speaker, Mr. David Bornstein, author of How to Change the World.)  

Dr. Parks’ books include Big Questions, Worthy Dreams: Mentoring Young Adults in Their Search for Meaning and Can Leadership Be Taught: A Bold Approach For a Complex World.   She is also co-author of Can Ethics Be Taught? and Common Fire: Leading Lives of Commitment in a Complex World.
