Catawba College's RN-BSN program is now enrolling for its spring 2017 admission for Registered Nurses (RNs) who want to pursue a four-year baccalaureate degree. The primary target for the RN-BSN program is currently employed and licensed RNs with Associate degrees in Nursing or Nursing diplomas.
RNs seeking to enhance their current knowledge, broaden their career options, or prepare for broader levels of responsibility by earning a BSN degree are encouraged to apply. Our two-step admission process requires completion of our free electronic application (available at www.catawba.edu/nursing) and submission of official college transcripts. An active and unencumbered North Carolina RN License is required, along with successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
The RN-BSN option consists of a minimum of 120 semester hour credits with up to 64 transferrable hours. Eligible students can complete their BSN degree (start to finish) in approximately two years by attending classes throughout the entire calendar year. The first year will consist of general pre-requisite courses, and the second year will be the sequential nursing curriculum. Thanks to the block format (one course, one month at a time) offered in our evening program, RN-BSN students have flexible enrollment options, including 10 different start dates throughout the year.
Most courses are offered in a four-week block, hybrid format (online and in-person) with class meetings scheduled on Monday and Thursday evenings each week (6:00-9:45 pm). A few courses meet every other Tuesday evening (6:00-9:45 pm), and some online courses are offered.
Most adult students in the evening program enroll in four or more courses per semester making them full-time and eligible for maximum financial aid programs. We are also excited about our affordable tuition rate of $357 per credit hour for those who may not qualify for financial aid.
