Catawba College students will have plenty of international travel opportunities available to them in 2014. Trips to Europe, France, Japan, Wales, Spain and Bonaire are scheduled and interested students should contact the Glenn and Addie Ketner Center for International Studies for information and details on scholarships.
Dr. David Fish, professor of music and chair of the Music Department, and Dr. Eric Hake, associate professor of economics and chair of the Business and Economics Department, will take a group to Japan over Spring Break, March 8-16, 2014.
Also during Catawba's Spring Break, Dr. Marie Langhorne, professor of French, will lead a nine-day trip to the south of France to study the architecture and culture of the region. Dr. Janice Fuller, professor of English and Catawba's Writer-in-Residence, will take students enrolled in her honors class on a trip to Wales, the home of author Dylan Thomas. And, Dr. James Hand, assistant professor of Athletic Training and director of Athletic Training Education, will take those enrolled in his Catawba Physio class and other interested students, to countries in Europe, including Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Brussels.
Dr. J. Michael Wilson, professor and chair of Modern Foreign Languages, will take students to Madrid, Spain between July 2-29, 2014. Students making this trip will be able to take up to two Spanish classes under the auspices of FORSPRO.
Students will also have an opportunity to travel to Bonaire in the fall of 2014 with Dr. Mark Sabo, professor and chair of Chemistry, and Dr. Connie Lowery, professor and chair of Biology, at the college. The trip, tied to a Chemistry and Biology class, is limited to 16 students. It will allow participants to learn scuba and marine science, get scuba certified, and dive in the Caribbean.
