Now that the renovations for the cafeteria are done and students have had time to eat and explore it, I took the time recently to ask some students a few questions.
Students were asked how they felt about the new renovations, if there was anything that they disliked or they thought that needed to change. Juniors and Seniors were asked to compare the cafeteria to what they experienced during their Freshman and Sophomore years.
There were some students who had negative comments, but most had a lot of good things to say. Here are the responses I gathered from the students:
"I really like the renovations. It was a much needed makeover. All I have heard is good reviews and am really impressed."
- Sydney Hyder of Asheboro, Sophomore.
"I really love the renovations to the caf. I notice a huge change in the actual venue, of course. More importantly, there has been a necessary change in food quality, which I greatly appreciate."
- Emily Pearson of Yadkinville, Senior.
"I believe Catawba is finally listening to the students and tackling the issues head on. Aside from the parking situation, I think overall Catawba has improved every year."
- Danielle Garzon of Raleigh, Senior.
"I dislike how the napkin dispensers are no longer on tables. I also dislike that we can't make our own sandwiches. But I do like that we have more variety of food in the caf."
- Jay Koontz of Lexington, Sophomore.
"I do see a big change. The caf is now much more prepared to handle the Catawba College student and faculty populations which is vital to our continued growth as a college."
- David Bowling of Newburg, Md., Senior.
" I really love the caf, but I think they should change the ice cream maker because sometimes it's out of order or it's making the ice cream and I'm not able to get any. Other than that everything is alright."
- Taryn Jenkins of Lexington, Junior.
Overall everyone is happy with the changes of to the cafeteria and they believe that the renovations represent positive changes that are happening all over campus.
