One of the best networking opportunities with possible future employers available to students is to attend a career fair. On November 5, Catawba students attended the Metrolina Colleges Career Fair held at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, meeting recruiting representatives from 57 corporations and graduate schools throughout the region.
Companies such as Food Lion/Delhaize, Wells Fargo, Prism Medical Products, NC Department of Revenue, Enterprise Inc., and Panera Bread met with students and shared full-time, part time, and internship opportunities with their firms. Graduate schools were recruiting candidates for a variety of programs from business to law to sports management, and more.
Bradley Carlton, a Business Administration major in the Ketner School of Business, said, "The fair was great! I found a lot of companies that I am interested in."
Riley Weber, another senior business major added, "It was a great experience! For any student who is serious about their future but not exactly sure which direction they should take, I highly recommend going. The companies that were at the career fair covered a variety of fields."
The Metrolina Colleges Consortium is made up of 9 colleges and universities whose mission is to organize and conduct this annual career fair for the students from each school. Their mission is to increase students' networking opportunities with employers and to offer employers an efficient means of recruiting from the member institutions. Members include Catawba College, Belmont Abby, Wingate, Lenoir-Rhyne, Johnson and Wales, Gardner-Webb, St. Andrews, Livingstone, and Pfeiffer University. This year, over 260 students attended the career fair, with many receiving offers to interview with the attending companies.
