Catawba College begins a new series of Tuesday Music 515 performances beginning at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, in the Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on campus.
This year’s Tuesday Music 515 Series will open with a duo recital by Ralph Hair, playing baritone horn, and Robert Durocher, organ. They will play a program including music by Albinoni, Pachelbel, Handel, and Mozart.
Ralph Hair is a 1959 Catawba alumnus who is active in the community as a vocal soloist and instrumentalist. He is a member of the Catawba Chorale, the St. John’s Chancel Choir, the St. John’s Men’s Chorus, and the Catawba Wind Ensemble.
Robert J. Durocher, Jr. is the Director of Music Ministries at St. John's Lutheran Church, where he is principal organist for all services, and administers a sacred music program including 11 choirs and ensembles. He also serves as the accompanist for the Catawba Chorale.
Other performances scheduled this fall will feature a program of Moravian vocal music on October 12th and the Catawba Chorale with the Catawba Handbell Ensemble on November 9th.
The Tuesday Music 515 Series is sponsored by the Catawba Music Department, with Rosemary Kinard serving as program coordinator. It is a Concert Series spotlighting area musicians in brief programs on the second Tuesday of the month, beginning at 5:15 p.m. and lasting for approximately 30 minutes.
Spring performances in this series are slated for February 12, March 15, and April 12, 2005, with all performances free and open to the public.
