A second sculpture, Charles Pilkey’s “Ark”, was installed on the Catawba campus March 31. It is part of the 2017 Salisbury Sculpture Show.
Earlier this month, David Boyajian's "Cotyledon" was installed on campus. Catawba's participation in the show is a very affordable way to bring public art to the campus. The sculptors submit proposals and then a sculpture selection committee (which a representative from the college sits on) actually picks from all of the submissions to narrow the selections to around 20 final sculptures that will be displayed as part of the annual show.
This is the third year that Catawba and all of the other higher education institutions in Salisbury have participated by hosting pieces of sculpture included in the show on their campuses.
