The Catawba College Environmental Stewards Program, under the auspices of the Center for the Environment at Catawba, will conduct a photo contest that showcases the seasonal changes of the local environment. It is open to both campus and Salisbury/Rowan community members.
The program will accept submissions (anything from a single fallen leaf to a collection of photos highlighting plant growth) from December 1, 2017, to February 28, 2018. Submissions may be sent to ccespsubmit@gmail.com.
The community will be asked to vote on their favorite photographs and photo series through online voting March 1-15, and the winners will be announced on March 16.
Photos that are submitted will be displayed in the building that houses the Center for the Environment. "This will allow community members as well as Catawba affiliates to view the evolutionary changes around us," says Environmental Steward Sara Barbee, the leader of the project.
The Center for the Environment was founded in 1996 to educate the college community and the public about environmental stewardship and sustainability, provide value-added education for students through interaction with thought leaders and opportunities for experiential learning, and bring diverse people and groups together to catalyze sustainable solutions to our most persistent environmental challenges.
