Registration is underway for fall classes in Catawba College's Community Music Program. Classes begin the week of September 9 and conclude December 8 with recitals.
Jacob Hahn is director of the program that began in 1984 and offers a variety of quality musical experiences including private lessons, music classes and performance opportunities. The program's offerings help students of all ages and abilities in Salisbury and the surrounding areas develop lifelong musical foundations and skills.
Private and semi-private lessons are available in piano, voice, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, violin, viola, cello, percussion, flute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trumpet and trombone. The following classes are also offered:
- Family Music for Birth to Age 5
- Pre-Piano Class
- Class Piano for Children
- Class Piano for Adults
- Class Voice for Pre-Teens and Teens
- Class Guitar
- Flute Choir
- Class Suzuki Violin (ages 6-up)
Additionally, children and teens may enroll to participate in ensembles, including Catawba Children's Chorale for ages 7-14 and the Youth Swing Band for teens in grades 9-12.
Current families who are participating in the program are eligible for 10% off their fall semester tuition when they recommend the program to a new student.
