Catawba College's End-of-the-Year Luncheon for Faculty and Staff was a time to recognize 10 individuals who are retiring from the college this year.

The longest serving individual recognized was Eleanor Ijames in the College Business Office, with 42 years of service. Other individuals recognized and their respective departments included from Facilities, Dale Boardman and Howard Collins; from Finance, Carol Julian; from Housekeeping, Sandra Owen; from Development, Tom Childress and Gordon Kirkland; and from the Faculty, Dr. John B. "Jack" Green, a marketing professor in the Ketner School of Business; Dr. James Beard from the School of Arts and Sciences, a professor of chemistry; and Dr. Cynthia Osterhus, a professor of teacher education and director of the Ritchie Academy for Teaching.

The Catawba Kazoo Band performed several commemorative songs for the retirees and those gathered at the luncheon, including its unique version of "Happy Trails."
