The Catawba Singers, Catawba's highly regarded and auditioned concert choir, are taking their Spring 2011 Tour, which coincides in part with Catawba's spring break and includes performance stops in Huntington, W. Va.; Evansville, Ind.; Springfield, Ill.; Chicago, Ill.; Louisville, Ky.; Bristol, Tenn.; and Hickory, N.C.
Junior Kara Procell, a Theatre Arts major and member of the choir, will be blogging about her experiences while on the tour. Her first entry is below:
And ... they're off! We, your very own Catawba Singers, left today on their spring 2011 tour. After a slightly delayed start due to Professor Oakley's lost wallet (don't worry, we found it later) we stopped first half an hour down the road at Lexington High School, alma mater of our very own Arsherres Jenkins. After singing a few of our own pieces for them, we got to hear two of the pieces they're taking to their state choral festival next week. Several of them are interested in Catawba. Yay!
