Catawba College Sophomore Danielle "Dani" Schneider of New Castle, Delaware, is spending part of her summer in Spain participating in a language immersion program at Menédez Pelayo International University in Santander. The program is sponsored by International Studies Abroad (ISA).

Dani, who is pursuing a double major in psychology and Spanish at Catawba, will be fulfilling part of the requirements for her Spanish major by taking classes in Spanish Grammar, Culture and Civilization, and Hispanic Literature. In her spare time, she has agreed to share her experiences abroad through a weekly posting of "Notes from Spain."

In addition to taking classes, Dani plans to travel with some of her fellow students while in Spain. Her itinerary will take her from Madrid through Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Barcelona, and Logroño. Her weekly postings will relate her adventures.

A field hockey player, Dani is very involved in activities on Catawba's campus. She volunteers her time with Wigwam Productions, Catawba's student programming board, serves as president for the Delphinian Society, a social and service organization for women, and next year, she will serve as vice president of the Catawba Ambassadors, student tour guides. She is active in the Alpha program, wherein upper-class students mentor first-year students during annual orientation, the Catholic Campus Ministry, and the Student Conduct Board. She also finds time to mentor students at a middle school in Salisbury.

Dani welcomes e-mail correspondence from current and prospective members of Catawba's community and can be reached at dschneid@catawba.edu.
