Professor Sweatt, a Catawba College alumna ’04, is an Assistant Professor of Nursing, and the Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator for the Nursing Department. Professor Sweatt has 10 years of nursing experience and her professional background includes caring for patients in the cardiovascular intermediate care and diagnostic cardiology services. While pursuing her Master degree, Professor Sweatt identified  the importance of utilizing nursing informatics in a pre-licensure  nursing curriculum and designed an informatics course to fulfill this professional requirement . Currently, Professor Sweatt is earning a doctorate of nursing and studying the effects of Social Determinates of Health on individuals in the Rowan County community. Her doctoral project will be implementing an evidenced-based practice to improve patient care by addressing the needs of the community. Professor Sweatt’s focus is providing interactive learning with her students in the classroom and simulation lab, while expanding student learning to address the needs of the community and healthcare systems in the clinical setting.
