Shuford Pollinator Lab
c. 2024
Located along the rear of the Shuford Science Building, this native pollinator garden is both a living laboratory and a daily source of inspiration. Students, faculty, and staff have used this space to collect real-world pollinator census data, observing bees, butterflies, and other vital pollinators in action during the annual Great Southeast Pollinator Census. Lining the edge of the staff/faculty parking lot, the garden transforms an ordinary border into a vibrant habitat, greeting commuters each morning with color and activity and sending them home with a reminder of nature’s resilience and beauty. It’s a perfect example of how science and sustainability flourish side by side.
