Job Summary: The Office of the Provost is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive student employee to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to the Provost and other senior staff members, contributing to the efficient operation of the office. This position is ideal for a motivated student who is looking to gain experience in a professional setting while supporting the academic and administrative functions of the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Office Support: Assist with daily office operations, including managing phone calls, emails, and scheduling meetings.
- Document Management: Prepare and proofread correspondence, reports, and other documents. Maintain and organize files, both electronic and paper.
- Communications: Gather and format content for regular digital communications/newsletters and send out
- Meeting Coordination: Help coordinate and schedule meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing meeting materials.
- Event Assistance: Support the planning and execution of departmental events and activities, including logistical arrangements and attendee communication.
- Data Entry: Assist with data entry tasks and maintain accurate records as needed.
- Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors to the office in a professional and courteous manner.
- Research Support: Conduct basic research and gather information as requested by the Provost or other staff members.
- Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the Office of the Provost’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Current Enrollment: Must be a currently enrolled student at [University Name], ideally pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Liberal Arts).

Job Description: The primary role of the Athletic Assistant is to provide support for Game Day and Special Events, which includes tasks such as: setting up, breaking down, ticket sales, guest sign-ins, parking, monitoring gates, and other duties as assigned. Available Positions:
Athletic Communication Workstudy - General
Will report to the Director of Athletic Communications and assist with the publicity of all 21 of Catawba’s NCAA DII intercollegiate athletic teams. This job will serve as a pre-professional opportunity to gain real-world experience into Division II collegiate athletics with duties including: writing press releases, feature stories, camera operations, basic graphic design work, marketing, compiling statistics and records for dissemination to all internal and external constituencies. Additional responsibilities will include assisting in the maintenance of the athletic department's website and various social media platforms, shooting/editing video highlights, photography, and other duties as assigned.
Photographer/Videographer
Assist shooting and editing Catawba College athletic events, practices, and media day activities for video board and social media usage.
Graphic Design
Assist in creating social media graphics for all Catawba sports teams
Writer/Reporter
Write press releases, game previews, and post-game recaps for Catawba’s website and social media platforms. Provide on-field interviews pre and post-game
Social Media
Assist in posting specific social media content for @CatawbaAthletics platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube). Assist in planning, creating, and implementing specific social media campaigns for each Catawba sports team.
Broadcast Team
Provide assistance in working games for the SAC Live streaming network. Duties can include announcing, producing, or operating a camera. Help be a part of the broadcast team that is evolving and improving in terms of our capabilities to provide a more professional atmosphere for students looking to get into the sports broadcasting business.Game Operations
Assist in operations before, during, and after home athletic events. Help set up press box or score table, assist in the setup and break-down of live stream equipment, operate scoreboard/video board, assist in recording game statistics, assist with gate operations and ticket sales.
This experience helps students build their resume and gain real-world experience before graduating.

Job Description
Customer Service Desk (CSD) personnel will work the front desk, greeting and directing students and visitors. CSD will update excel spreadsheets; update office calendar of events; assist with study hall sign-ins and check-outs; other study hall duties as assigned; assist with success coach meeting sign ins; assist with set-up and clean-up of events; run errands on campus; and keep up with refreshment area.

To be considered for the Catawba Marching Band Work Study position, interested students must be able to properly move band equipment including chairs, stands, percussion instruments, and field materials. Training will be provided as needed, but it is the student’s responsibility to understand the proper way of handling specific materials. Work study applicants must also be able to coordinate setup for marching band rehearsals, and wind ensemble rehearsals. They should have a working knowledge of procedures in the band library, including filing and distributing music for rehearsals and performances. The student must also be able to assist with instrument inventory and checkout procedures, including storage locker checkout.
Special skills/qualifications requested:
Any Catawba Marching Band work study student should understand the workings of a band program and have organizational skills allowing them to complete important tasks in a timely manner. The ability to work well with others involved in the band program, and student leadership team is vital. Prompt and complete communication is expected.

Job Description:
The student will be responsible for the preparation of laboratory experiments in the department of Chemistry. This includes experimental setup, breakdown, solution preparation, and equipment setup/breakdown. The student will also be responsible for maintaining the department's chemical inventory and working with Faculty to ensure that chemicals are reordered and inventoried as necessary. Waste handling, proper chemical handling and storage, and proper use of all safety equipment and procedures will be required.
Special Skills/Qualifications Requested:
Any student who has completed General Chemistry I (CHEM 1501) or has had AP Chemistry in high school is qualified for this position. Students who are currently enrolled in (or will enroll in) General Chemistry I or Molecules and Cells (BIOL 1501) for the fall semester will be considered for this position as well.

Job Description: Costume Shop Assistants members work closely with the costume shop supervisor and students in Costume Studio to sew, modify, and build costumes for the theatre season.
Special Skills/Qualifications Requested: We provide on the job training, no experience is necessary but time management and attention to detail are necessary. Shop hours are from 2 PM – 5 PM, with some weekends (1 or 2 per semester). Ability to work independently after given instruction; friendly, can work well with others. Job Description
As a Development Assistant & Catawba Phonathon Caller, you provide alumni, parents and friends with a bridge back to Catawba. You will be sharing Catawba’s achievements and working to make the college even better. Not only will you be making the college a better place but you’ll also be improving yourself by gaining marketing, customer service, and persuasive communications skills along the way!
You will be on the front line for Catawba, representing the student body and administration to the greater part of the Cat-U family.
The starting rate for each caller is $10/hour. Some of your duties include:
- Capturing alumni and friends demographic information
- Establishing relationship with alumni, parents and friends
- Making the case for support
- Negotiating the philanthropic ability of each potential donor
- Troubleshooting any concerns the potential donor may have
- Fundraising tasks such as stuffing & stamping envelopes
- “Thank You” calls
- Helping with Day of Giving related projects
- Minor clerical duties such as filing, organizing, etc
Hours are anytime between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. during September – November. Callers must work at least 3 shifts per week. Schedules are flexible.
We are constantly on the phone discussing Catawba, as well as extending the opportunity to invest in Catawba College’s bright future. Our office raises funds for many different areas on campus including; student scholarships, financial aid, departments, intercollegiate athletics, and student groups. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the MarComm staff to gain an understanding of how and what we communicate to reach our primary audiences (prospective students/parents, alumni, the on-campus community, and the Salisbury community).
- Develop content for posting on the main College social media channels, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Effectively share news and information about the College in a way that encourages fans and followers to watch, click or read.
- Conduct competitive analyses of peer institutions and how they are interacting with their social media following.
- Measure and record analytics on key social media channels weekly.
- Support various events and activities with pre-planned posts and live coverage on social channels.
- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions to create a posting schedule and plan.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Job Description: Management Shop Assistants work closely with the Management Supervisor, Department Administrative Assistant, Directors and Catawba’s marketing firm and with the management studio students to market productions and recruit future students for the theatre program. This position requires some evening and weekend work. 4-10 hrs/week scheduled time.
Special Skills/Qualifications Requested: We provide on the job training so no experience is necessary but experience with MS Office, Adobe CS, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. In addition, the Management Shop Assistants need the ability to work with the public, write well, have good oral communication and lift approximately fifty (50) pounds.

Job Description: Scene Shop Assistants work closely with the Technical Director, Scenery and Lighting Designers and with the scenery and electrics studio students to perform of the construction (primarily carpentry and welding), painting, electrics, and other technical work involved in mounting the department’s productions. This position requires some evening and weekend work. 4-10 hrs/week scheduled time.
Special Skills/Qualifications Requested: We provide on the job training so no experience is necessary but skills in carpentry, painting, theatrical lighting technology and/or design are a plus. In addition, the Scene Shop Assistants need the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, learn power tool operations and lift approximately fifty (50) pounds. First Aid and shop safety training are provided by the department.

JOB OVERVIEW:
Are you a creative storyteller interested in video creation? Are you looking to grow your professional portfolio while getting paid? Do you love Catawba College and want to tell others about what makes it so amazing? If so, the Office of Marketing & Communications invites you to apply for a position as the Video Creation/Editing Intern. These videos are posted on the University’s website and social media channels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage video & motion graphic projects from start to end.
- Manage and oversee all technical aspects of video recording and editing.
- Use Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects and Photoshop to create visual effects
DESIRED SKILLS:
Filming and video editing experience; understanding of aspects of cinematography and photography including production planning, lighting techniques, audio recording, video/still camera operation techniques and post production editing; strong communication skills; positive attitude and a passion for working across multiple disciplines; ability to work under very tight deadlines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in video production and editing.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office products.
- Experience with professional audio/video equipment is preferred
- Creative with a strong ability to tell entertaining stories
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a creative team
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office, email, and Internet research.
- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Catawba College’s mission, programs, departments, and services.
- Must be able to represent the College in a professional manner, which includes appropriate work attire, correct spelling and grammar, good judgment, and accurate information.
- Must have superior organizational and planning skills.

Student employees are expected to enforce Wellness Center policy, promote wellness programming, and have basic knowledge of fitness equipment. The main responsibilities are to greet Wellness Center users and confirm sure they are registered for sessions, keep the Wellness Center clean, make sure users are safe, and notify the Director of issues.
Special Skills/Qualifications Requested:
Must be able to carry 45lb a short distance.

Wellness Center Assistants will prepare for career readiness by practicing effective communication, professional etiquette, and customer service daily. They will practice personal responsibility by showing up to work and completing daily tasks. They will practice perceptiveness and problem solving by answering Wellness Center users’ questions about equipment and guiding them through the registration process. They will practice personal well-being by helping others establish healthy habits, and use critical thinking to solve and address issues that arise as well as address schedule conflicts. Students will learn financial responsibility by monitoring their schedule and hours worked.
