Dr. Gay has over 20 years of immeasurable clinical experience providing administrative, direct care, consultation, and supervision in diverse settings for individuals with various disabilities and impairments, with specifics to best practices in providing trauma informed, culturally competent clinical and supportive services for individuals with traumatic injuries, substance use and mental health disorders. Dr. Gay holds a doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, known as EMDR and credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Supervisor (LCMHCS), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), Certi­fied Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP), Board Certified Tele Mental Health Counselor (BC-TMH) and a Violence Prevention Professional (VPP). Dr. Gay is a member of various professional associations, committees, advisory councils and organizational and currently serves as Chair for the North Carolina Board of Licensed Mental Health. Counselors. In her free time, Dr. Gay enjoys spending time with her husband, children and fur Lab-baby “Racko”, cooking and baking, and watching crime shows!
