Project Details
Built-in 1989; Renovated in 2018 & 2020
The 2020 full-year capital renovation addressed replacing the 1986 HVAC system, including all ductwork and individual VAV units. Included in the finished scope was interior wall paint, office furniture, flooring, and upgraded IT classroom technology. During the HVAC supply vent removal, significant bat guano was discovered inside the ductwork. Following immediate CDC occupancy and abatement removal guidelines, two complete sides of the three-story brick veneer were removed. Post-guano abatement was required in the exterior masonry and CMU block structure, and clearance testing per the CDC prescriptive abatement was completed. All construction resumed with simultaneous trades completing the building brick veneer and construction of the renovation details. In addition to the interior finish, the scope included the addition of the accredited School of Nursing. This expanded facility was built with state-of-the-art simulation standards.
Additionally, the 1990 education textbook repository was removed as new storage is in a digital format. This room created the new Health Science Performance Training Lab for the Health Science undergraduate and graduate curriculum. At the close of the full building renovation, the first floor's previous classrooms and areas delivered an expansion of college academic offerings.
