DISCOVER Program for Middle and High School Youth

A New Season of Discover

Catawba Youth Theology Institute (DISCOVER) began as a Lilly Foundation Grant to instill within youth a hunger and excitement for learning about faith and vocation through a camp program. For almost ten years, we hosted this camp program at the Black Lake Retreat Center and then on Catawba College’s campus.

Going back to the legacy of Pastor Porter Seiwell, a former chaplain at Catawba who promoted Catawba through his ministry at summer camps, we are excited to announce partnerships with United Church of Christ camps. This summer, Catawba will be sending eight college students to serve as Discover Fellows at:

As Discover Fellows, students will be leading faith formation at camps through worship, Bible Study, and ministry with campers.

We hope you will continue to follow along with us on this new journey and maybe even explore camp with some of our partners this summer!
