In this program, you’ll begin learning in your first semester the most fundamental concepts of economics and finance before establishing a solid foundation in the applied and theoretical areas of international and domestic banking, finance, business and economics. Catawba’s Economics and Finance majors and graduates are skilled at math, attentive to details, and capable of examining data and making sound predictions.
In the Economics and Finance Bachelor of Arts degree program at Catawba College, you will learn to research and gather data using both traditional and modern methods, develop key analytical skills that can be applied to an array of industries, from banking and government to healthcare and education, and prepare yourself for a rewarding and potentially very lucrative career in finance, banking, investing, and economics. Study Abroad
Study Abroad
Several recent courses offered in the School of Business have included a study abroad travel component, taking students to Japan to explore business culture and to Israel to explore entrepreneurial culture and mindset. Recent independent semester abroad experiences have taken students to Cambodia and Panama as well. School of Business Travel Award is available to assist with costs associated with a study abroad experience.

Ketner School of Business majors and Economics and Finance majors regularly make research presentations at the state, regional and national conferences of Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL). These FBLA-PBL presentation events are challenging and require research, a written synopsis, and an oral presentation in front of many judges, but Catawba students typically are among the top-place finishers.
