Music Education
Combine Your Love and Knowledge of Music with Teaching
The Music Education Concentration is for Music majors whose goal is to meet the music competency studies and experiences expected by the State of North Carolina for K-12 music teacher licensure, all while gaining a rich and well-rounded education in music.
The music education program at Catawba College allows students to immerse themselves in a diverse curriculum to ensure they are prepared to teach in a wide variety of settings.
Our concentration includes many traditional elements, while also offering contemporary approaches that provide opportunities rooted in real world applications in the classroom. In addition to the core requirements of the Music Major and the concentration in Music Education, students can further customize their course of learning based on their desired career outcomes by choosing from many elective courses in adjacent musical fields as part of their degree.
