Catawba College Adds 23 New Tom Smith Fellows

Published:
Catawba College added 23 new Tom Smith Scholars this year. The fellows are traditional freshmen and incoming transfer students and selected based on their incoming grade point average and those that best embody the qualities of Catawba - Scholarship, Character, Culture, and Service.

A kick-off dinner was held earlier this week where about half of the new Tom Smith Scholars attended to learn about Tom Smith, Ralph W. Ketner, what a fellow is, and to begin planning their first year of programming.

This group will participate in a newly launched fellows program during their time at Catawba College that includes practical experience, professional development, and engagement with the business community. Students will take part in projects with impact, service, giving back, leadership development, business and career exposure, social events, and domestic and international travel, serving as role models to the student population of Catawba College, and carrying its message to the world.

Dr. Christine Lynn, Associate Dean at the Ketner School of Business, is leading the Tom Smith Fellows program. She is joined by Freshman Eva Troast, Tom Smith Student Fellows Coordinator.
