Dean Imran Chowdhury opened the meeting with a presentation on KSOB’s strategic priorities, emphasizing efforts to strengthen academic foundations, expand professional development opportunities, and enhance the school’s external visibility. These initiatives were designed to position KSOB students for long-term success in an evolving business landscape.
A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of a new experiential learning initiative presented by Dr. Joanna Trammell and colleagues. The Spring 2026 pilot course, Sustainability & Innovation: Experiential Learning Field Immersion (MGT 4403), was designed to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities through site-based experiences in Georgia and Florida, including participation in the Artemis II launch. This innovative approach connected classroom learning with real-world applications in sustainability and innovation.
Dr. Christine Lynn and KSOB students also shared updates on programs designed to bridge the gap between academic preparation and career readiness. These efforts included the Tom Smith Fellows program, expanded internship opportunities, and the introduction of WriteSea, a new professional development platform aimed at enhancing students’ career preparation and communication skills.
In addition, Dr. Morton and students showcased The Catawba Spotlight, a student-produced radio program that highlighted applied learning in communication, storytelling, and community engagement. The program aired locally on 1490 WSTP AM and 101.7 WSAT FM, offering students a platform to develop practical media and broadcasting experience while engaging with the broader community.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between KSOB and its advisory board members, whose insights on experiential learning and workforce trends continued to shape the school’s initiatives.
“Our Advisory Board played a vital role in helping us align our programs with the needs of today’s workforce,” said Dean Chowdhury. “Their continued support and guidance were instrumental as we created meaningful pathways from the classroom to careers for our students.”
The Ketner School of Business expressed appreciation for the Advisory Board’s ongoing engagement and support and looks forward to its next meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026.
