Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society Induction Celebrated at Catawba College

On April 28, 2026, Catawba College’s Ketner School of Business proudly hosted the induction ceremony for Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), recognizing outstanding student achievement in the field of economics.

The ceremony was led by faculty advisor Dr. Jamie Slate, who continues to guide and support the chapter’s mission of promoting academic excellence in economics. This year’s event was organized with the assistance of outgoing president Hunter Clarke, a senior majoring in Economics & Finance, who will graduate with a 3.19 GPA and provided leadership to the organization throughout the academic year.

The 2026 induction class included several high-achieving students:

  • Alan J. Flynn, BSBA in Economics, 4.0 GPA (Class of 2026)
  • Ella Gutenwik, BSBA in Economics, 3.98 GPA (Class of 2027)
  • Peyton Ponce-De-Leon, BA in Economics & Finance and BS in Mathematical Sciences, 3.98 GPA (Class of 2027, not present at the ceremony)
  • Bautista Vecchi Ramello, BA in Economics & Finance and BSBA in Management, 3.90 GPA (Class of 2027)

Omicron Delta Epsilon is one of the world’s largest academic honor societies, dedicated to recognizing scholastic attainment and honoring outstanding achievements in economics. Membership is highly selective and reflects both academic excellence and a commitment to the discipline.

The induction ceremony served as a celebration of the students’ hard work and dedication, as well as a testament to the strength of the economics program at Catawba College. Faculty, staff, and peers gathered to honor the inductees and encourage their continued success in their academic and professional pursuits.
