Bridgette Edwards Gibbs of Salisbury, a 2002 Catawba College alumna and director of event planning at the college, completed a certification in Meeting and Event Planning during the fall 2007 semester at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Gibbs, along with 25 other students, studied the many different aspects of meetings and specialEvents during the semester. They studied Meeting and Event Planning Fundamentals; Marketing, Negotiations, and Ethics; Hotel Operations, Audiovisuals; Wedding Planning; Contracts and Risk Management; and Trade Shows and Conventions. She will be using the knowledge she gained in the certification program in her current position to help direct clients in ways to make their event more successful.
