Catawba College Alumnus Patrick L. McCrory '78, the current mayor of the City of Charlotte, and three graduating seniors, Jill Archambault of Glens Falls, N.Y.; Jared Kenish of Glassboro, N.J.; and Richard Kolbasowski, Jr., of Rockwell, N.C.; received special recognition during the College's May 9th Commencement Exercises. The exercises, one for students in the traditional day program and one for students in the evening program, were held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, in Keppel Auditorium on campus.

O.B. Michael Award
Pat McCrory, who is currently serving his seventh term as Mayor of the City of Charlotte, was honored by the College during the 10 a.m. commencement exercise with the 2009 O.B. Michael Award.    Read more »

Whitener and Barbara Andrews Awards
During the 10 a.m. ceremony, two students were recognized as recipients of the Whitener Awards. These awards have been presented annually since 1927 to honor the man and woman in the graduating class who embody to a high degree the qualities of good character, leadership and scholarship.   Read more »
