Catawba College Choirs to Present ‘Love Is In the Air’ Spring Concert

The Catawba College choirs will present their first spring concert on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m., in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel located on the Catawba campus. The theme, “Love is in the Air,” will feature musical selections related to the love of God, country and humankind.  

The Catawba choirs are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, Associate Chair of Music and Director of Choral/Vocal Studies.  

Selections for the program include:  Richard Nance’s “Set Me as a Seal” and David Dickau’s “If Music be the Food of Love,” as well as various selections from Broadway and cinema. A special rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” will be presented. 

The Pop Acapella and Chamber Choirs will round out the concert with additional music selected from Top 40 Hits.  

Jacob Hahn, Professor of Keyboard Studies, will accompany the ensembles for both rehearsals and performance. 

The hour-long concert is free and open to the public.
