Dr. Jay Bolin, Associate Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Catawba College, has been teaching with Wiki Education for over five years. He uses it in his Plant Taxonomy and Dendrology courses where students research and write Wikipedia pages for North Carolina plants.
“Implementing Wiki Education into your classroom is work, but it is rewarding for so many reasons,” Bolin states in his recent blog. “There aren’t a lot of student assignments that you work on with your student and spend time carefully editing that make an impact like Wiki Education outside of the classroom.”
Bolin recommends trying Wiki Education in the classroom as long as your class is relatively small and your students are mostly juniors and seniors and you have time to closely edit your students’ short Wiki entries.
