In early April, the Catawba College Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE) became one of seven colleges and universities to be designated a blue ribbon chapter and was awarded a $150 prize for membership activities by the North Carolina Association of Educators.

Catawba College SNCAE officers submitted an application which detailed membership activities, community involvement and membership growth for the 2010-2011 school year. Mrs. Amanda Bosch, director of the Catawba College Curriculum Materials Center, serves as advisor for the Catawba College SNCAE. The SNCAE Officers for 2010-2011 are Julie Gilley of Dobson, president; Danielle Garzon of Raleigh, vice-president; Brittany Myers of Shelby, secretary; Sarah Morse of North Berwick, Maine, treasurer; Elizabeth Sloop of Salisbury, senior class representative; Brent Messenger of Kannapolis, junior class representative; Elizabeth Davis of East Bend, sophomore class representative; and Amber Strickland of Mooresville, freshman class representative.
