Catawba College has named Ashley Gilroy as the school's first women's lacrosse coach.  It was announced by Dennis Davidson, Director of Athletics.  Gilroy takes the reins of Catawba's newest intercollegiate sport which will celebrate its inaugural season in the spring of 2012.

"We are pleased that Ashley has joined the Catawba College athletics staff," said Davidson. "It is exciting to have new women's sport and Ashley is energetic and passionate about women's lacrosse. With her background as a Division II student athlete, Ashley is an excellent choice for our new position."

Gilroy has previously served as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College as well as with the Shoreham-Wading River CSD Varsity Indoor team.  She has also spent time in sales with several sporting goods companies since her graduation in 2005 from Long Island University-C.W. Post where she earned a degree in criminal justice and business.

While at C.W. Post, Gilroy was a two-time All-America selection and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team three times as she helped the Eagles to the NCAA II semifinals.  Gilroy served as captain her senior season.
