Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law! Add some music and dancing to this plotline, and you've got "Legally Blonde, The Musical!"

Catawba College's Shuford School of Performing Arts is putting on its "bend-and-snapping" shoes for this big PG-13 show that plays in Keppel Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15-17. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for non-Catawba students and senior citizens, with group discounts available. During its first year on Broadway in 2007, "Legally Blonde" earned seven Tony Award nominations, 10 Drama Dest Award nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award. The show also ranked in the top 10 most requested Ticketmaster "Arts & TheatreEvents" for 2007. Winner of seven major awards, including the coveted Best New Musical 2011 (Oliver Awards), this all singing, all dancing, romantic comedy is about knowing who you are and showing what you've got!

The star of "Legally Blonde," Elle, takes the Harvard world by storm without missing a hint of pink.   Along her transformative journey, Elle meets some exciting characters who show her that sometimes being what you are and not what you think people want, only makes you so much happier.  

The musical offers music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach. The story is based on the novel, "Legally Blonde" by Amanda Brown and a 2001 film of the same name.

Airy as Ensemble member; and Jonathan "Gyo" Gamble of Concord of   Ensemble member.      

Catawba College theatre arts faculty member, Professor Missy Barnes directs "Legally Blonde," while student Rayshaun Sandlin of Knightdale serves as assistant director.   Choreographer is Jodye Carroll of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., while scenic designer is Chris Speer of Hamptonville. Other crew members include Brooke Beall of Raleigh, lighting designer; Ashley O'Donnell of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Michelle Newberger from Lutz, Fla., stage managers; and Verity Pryor-Harden of Abilene, Texas, assistant stage manager.
