;Students from Catawba College's Sociology Capstone Seminar class recently participated in the annual "Point in Time" homeless person count in Rowan County organized by Rowan Helping Ministries.

The students left the experience wanting to do something more to help the people they interviewed. The students decided to collect gently used and new backpacks for shelter residents because it gives them something to carry their belongings in during the day. This drive was between February 26 and March 28.
