Attention middle and high school math teachers, Catawba College will offer a free, national professional development summer immersion workshop from August 1-3, 2017 on the campus of Catawba College. This workshop is part of the newly formed Central N.C. Math Teachers' Circle.

All interested math teachers are encouraged to visit the website www.catawba.edu/mathcircles to register for the session.  For more information contact Dr. Sharon Sullivan, professor and chair of mathematics and computer science at Catawba at slsulliv@catawba.edu.

In 2016, Catawba was awarded a grant to start the Central N.C. Math Teachers' Circle by the American Institute of Mathematics.  The Central N.C. Math Teachers' Circle is modelled after the Smokey Mountain Math Teachers' Circle in western North Carolina.

"The purpose of the Math Teachers' Circle is to get math teachers reinvigorated and to provide collaboration among local schools and Catawba faculty," Dr. Sullivan said.

In addition to Dr. Sullivan, Dr. Karen Lucas, an assistant professor of teacher education at Catawba, and Rowan-Salisbury middle school teachers, Renee Fox and Elizabeth Henley, will serve as the leadership team for the August workshop.
