adp2011Four students in Catawba College's Artist Development Program will offer a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 20 in the lobby of Hoke Hall on campus.  Students Allijah Motika of Asheville, Olivia Albertson of Thomasville, Caleb Casper of Waxhaw and Alex Gage of Harrisburg will offer different selections, ranging from deep Southern Country to Techno.

The Artist Development Program focuses on the growth of Popular Music students who aspire to be musicians and potential recording artists. The Nov. 20th performance is free and open to the public.

The Artists
Growing up in Asheville, a town full of artsy, inspired (and sometimes insane) people, Allijah Motika has always been surrounded by music. Being well-versed in many instruments including drums, guitar, piano, and beatboxing, Allijah uses his many influences and talents to create a unique and always-interesting style. The driving characteristic of this style is his clever songwriting and ability to embody those lyrics through heartfelt vocals.  Although the ultimate goal is to become a touring and recording artist, for the moment Allijah is hoping to learn all he can about music and simply bring a smile to the faces of his listeners. Born in the heart of North Carolina, Olivia Albertson grew up listening to deep Southern Country music. Influenced early on by the vocal stylings of LeAnn Rhymes, she first began singing publicly at the young age of six. From that age onward, she has taken huge strides towards creating her own style of music, completely different from other artists and musicians. Her song lyrics, which have been said to be able to influence and move any listener, are pure and bold, giving this artist a foothold in not only artistry, but musicianship. She is constantly evolving and learning, most recently taking up learning the mandolin and listening to other genres of music such as the blues. Read mro: www.Reverbnation.com/oliviaalbertson

Driven, heartfelt, and talented, Caleb Casper comes from the depths of the underworld to prove not only a point, but to prove himself. As a young man bound by masculinity and glitter, Caleb brings to the table not only flair, but unmistakable songwriting and piano playing talent. Fusing together the finest that shock-pop/rock and electronic music has to offer, Casper also brings all of this plus a spectacle of a stage show made to entrance his viewer. Look out, because this one-of-a-kind act is coming your way.

From Harrisburg, 21-year-old singer/songwriter Alex Gage stays true to her down-home roots, giving her listeners a well-blended Country/Pop mix. Since she recorded her first song, "Time for Me to Fly," she has been driven to reach the ears of country and pop fans alike. Her smooth, soaring voice, mixed with her songwriting talent is something that can no longer be bound by her small home town.
