Again this year, Catawba College's chapter of the Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE) participated in Trick-or-Treating for Canned Goods.

During the month of October, the students promote the event to the campus community, as well as to the Fulton Heights neighborhood in Rowan County. On Halloween night the residents of Fulton Heights leave bags full of canned goods on their front steps for the SNCAE volunteers to collect. While some members are collecting the bags of canned food, others are running a free face painting booth for local children.

This year, Catawba's SNCAE added a new aspect to the event by partnering with Partners in Learning Child Development Center, the Catawba College Pre-Health Organization and Volunteer Catawba to participate in a campus-wide food drive to support Rowan Helping Ministries in their "Trick or Treat so Others May Eat!" campaign. The food drive took place on campus October 19-29.

This year, SNCAE collected an impressive 1,444 pounds of canned food to donate to Rowan Helping Ministries and is very grateful for the community's support of this worthy cause.
