Charter members of the Catawba College Chi Omega chapter of the national Communication Association Lambda Pi Eta honor society welcomed four new members to the organization this year. New members included Rebecca Heffernan, Allison Justice, Melanie Mishue, and Leslie McMillan. They received stamped certificates and honor society pins.

Membership in Lambda Pi Eta requires a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.2 in the major for students with 60 plus credit hours. Inductees must also be in the top 35% of their class and represent the college and department in a professional and socially responsible manner.

Seniors from the charter year as well as seniors inducted this year were presented with red and white honor cords to be worn at graduation. Those having earned honor cords included President Amanda Drake, Steffi Cook, Jessica Gaskill, Brett Underwood, Cameron White, Allison Justice, and Melanie Mishue.

Drake and Gaskill assisted chapter advisor, Professor Cyndi Allison Wittum with the candle ceremony for inductees, family, and friends.

Apple Baking Company provided strawberry short cake to go with finger foods provided by Wittum, and Ketner School of Business assistant Mrs. Angelia Bates and Holly Chrisco decorated. The Center for the Environment hosted the ceremony and this provided attendees an opportunity to see the earth-friendly structure, its grounds and the adjoining nature preserve.
