Kimberly A. Betts has joined the Catawba College Center for the Environment as the executive administrative assistant. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A daughter of Jim and Patsy Betts of Salisbury, she recently returned to her hometown after working 10 years in Charlotte as a paralegal. She will be married in October to Brent Smith, potter and co-owner of Green Goat Gallery in Spencer.

Betts has had a longtime interest in the environment and in environmental stewardship. Her duties at the center will include coordinatingEvents, maintaining the database and assisting with development and volunteer efforts.

“We are delighted that Kim has joined our staff,” says Dr. John Wear, director of the center. “She not only brings a host of valuable skills to the post; she also brings a dedication to the environment, which will serve the center and the community well.”
