Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Catawba.
Step into a world where imagination opens hidden doors and ordinary life reveals extraordinary possibilities. This delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s timeless tale brings Dorothy Gale from the dusty plains of Kansas to the vivid, theatrical wonder of Oz, guided by the iconic, Oscar-winning MGM musical score audiences have loved for generations.
The Wizard of Oz begins with a simple, powerful idea: a young person standing on the threshold between childhood and adulthood, learning to trust what she already carries inside herself. Kansas is not a postcard; it is hardworking, restrained, and full of quiet longing. When the storm arrives, it doesn’t simply carry Dorothy away; it tears open a seam between reality and imagination. From that opening, Oz rises.
Oz is an echo of home, bursting with bold color, archetypes, and the half-remembered stories told by Professor Marvel at dusk. Along the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy meets companions who reflect the person she is becoming: the courage to act, the empathy to care, and the intelligence to choose for herself. Between the steady caution of Aunt Em and the encouraging trust of Glinda, Dorothy discovers that protection ultimately comes from her own decisions and that there truly is no place like home.
Watch witches take to the air on bubbles and broomsticks, flying monkeys attack, tornadoes twirl, and the Wizard’s balloon lifts into the sky. Oz will be filled with stage magic, flashes, bangs, and puffs of smoke.
Audiences will enjoy all their favorite songs, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead,” “If I Only Had a Brain / Heart / the Nerve,” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard (Follow the Yellow Brick Road).”Visually, the spare realism of Kansas gives way to the lush theatricality of Oz, creating a magical experience for audiences of all ages.
Join Dorothy and Toto for an unforgettable journey over the rainbow — where courage is found, friendships are forged, and the road home is paved in bright yellow.
