Coach Nick Brown

Nick Brown is the Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer team here at Catawba. He is also the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Representative, the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee, and a committee member of the Strategic Planning Process. He has also been on several hiring committees.

Nick chose Catawba because it felt like home. “I went to school here at Catawba and it’s always felt like home to me. Everyone is just so friendly and welcoming, and this has always seemed like family to me.”

When asked what he loves about Catawba, he said, “Everything. I love the people I work with. My coworkers have each other's backs. We support one another. It takes a village to do what we do, and we have that village. I love my student-athletes and getting to interact with them on a daily basis and getting to be a part of their journey. I also love the community here. The people are generous and want to see you succeed.”

He added, “I love the support we have from the administration. Dr. Nelson is a big supporter of athletics. Also, Michele Caddigan has been incredible. We know we always have her support.”

As a former student athlete at Catawba, Nick considered winning his first championship in 2001 as one of his most outstanding accomplishments. He also said, “walking across the stage at graduation and holding the diploma that says Catawba College was special to me.”

As an employee of Catawba, he considered his first championship in 2021 as a coach one of his most outstanding achievements. He noted that it was 20 years after his own championship as a player. He said another accomplishment of his has been, “just being asked to do other things around campus and being asked to be on committees other than athletics and getting to contribute to our community.”

When talking about his family, Nick said, “My wife Julia and our two kids Kade and Nolan are my reason for getting up every day. Having them as a part of the Catawba community has been amazing. The boys love coming to watch games. Everyone around here embraces them and loves getting to see them. It's amazing getting to have my family be a part of all of this.”
