The worship experience in the 21st century church requires trained professionals with knowledge and know-how in the areas of performing and leading worship music along with the technical skills of worship production, including sound, lighting, and video. The Worship Music and Production concentration of the B.A. Degree in Music at Catawba College focuses on both.

Music majors who choose the Worship Music and Production concentration at Catawba College are well-equipped with the methods and materials needed to implement a comprehensive music program inclusive of both contemporary and traditional worship styles. Graduates from this concentration are broadly prepared to function successfully in a multitude of facets of worship music and are encouraged to explore their options early on in their academic career.

Worship Music and Production students are provided many real-world experiences including:

  • Participation in ensembles such as Praise Band, Gospel, Gospel Roots, and Singers as musicians, vocalists, technicians, and production managers
  • Serving as a Chapel Scholar to create, produce, and lead worship for campus worship services, oftentimes with a scholarship
  • Serving local churches in paid or volunteer roles to create, produce and lead worship services
  • Completing an internship that serves as a culminating capstone experience

  • Career Readiness

    This concentration follows worship trends and practices that equip students to become highly effective worship musicians, leaders, artists and, producers in the field of worship music.

  • Music Scholarships

    Prospective music students are encouraged to audition for music scholarship opportunities while auditioning for acceptance into the Catawba College Music Department.

  • Music Ensembles

    14 on-campus ensembles, some carrying 1 credit hour, provide unique opportunities to develop skills, meet new people, and participate in serving the community.

Program Details

The Worship Arts program helped me fully connect my music to a worship setting. It prepared me as a leader as well as a director.  I want nothing more than to use my talents to bring people together to worship God.
