In March of each year, registration for degree seeking students opens for the upcoming summer, fall, winter, and spring terms. The year-long registration process provides you with the opportunity to:
- Plan ahead for the classes you need for the entire academic year.
- Confirm and secure your schedule for the next academic year at the same time.
- Register now; pay later- tuition for future terms will not be due any earlier!
What is year-long registration?
Year-long registration allows degree seeking students to register for an entire academic year at one time.
Do I have to register for all the terms at one time?
No, you are not required to register for all terms. You should make every effort to register for fall and spring as soon as possible to secure your spot in desired courses.
What if I do not want to take a winter course or a summer course?
Winter courses and summer courses are optional for undergraduates. If you do not want to take any winter or summer courses, then you should focus on registering for classes for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
Will additional courses be added for Summer 2025 and Winter 2025?
Yes. You can add summer courses and winter courses at a later time.
Can students register for any term, or do I have to register for summer, fall, winter, and spring in order?
Though not required, registering for the terms in order is highly recommended as it will allow you to meet any pre-requisite requirements needed for a later term. You must register for fall term, at a minimum. You are highly encouraged to register for both fall and spring to secure the courses that interest you the most.
How can I change my class schedule in advance?
You can drop and add courses for any term until the deadlines posted in the academic calendar. You are strongly advised to consult with your academic advisor prior to making adjustments to your schedule.
Do I have to pay for all the terms at once?
No, the billing cycle for future terms does not change.
When will I have to pay for each term?
Each term will have a separate fee payment deadline.
When will I receive my financial aid?
Financial aid disbursement will remain the same.
What happens if I drop a class that is a pre-requisite for a course for which I registered for a future term?
Students will be dropped from all courses for which they do not meet the pre-requisites.
Can I place myself on a course waitlist for any term?
Yes, if the course is closed.
I have a hold on my account. How will this affect my ability to register for terms?
Students with holds preventing registration will be blocked from registering for any term until the hold is resolved.
What if I don’t know if I want to take a special course (e.g. travel course, Honors course, Theatre course, a year in advance)?
There are times when a student may not be ready to register for a special course a year in advanced. Students can add these special courses later in the registration cycle once more information is known e.g. performance in particular theatre shows, costs of travel courses.
How does this impact me if I am a graduate student?
Please speak with your graduate director or graduate advisor to discuss the specific registration instructions that apply to your graduate program. The same advantages regarding advance planning and time management will apply to graduate students.
What is Catawba Connect?
Catawba Connect is a time in the fall semester to touch base with your advisor. Seeing your advisor during this time assures that you are still on track for your degree plan and gives an opportunity to discuss current classes and future goals. You will still need to see your Advisor to get your PIN.
