Alumni Board of Directors Interest Form

How many meetings are required each year?
Board members attend three meetings annually, two in person and one virtual.

• Fall meeting: in-person
• Winter meeting: virtual
• Spring meeting: in-person

Each committee will meet outside of the main meetings as necessary.

How long is a board term?
Each term is three years. Members may serve up to two consecutive terms back-to-back.

Can I serve again after completing two terms?
Yes. After serving two consecutive terms, members must take at least a one-year break before becoming eligible to serve again.

Do I have to serve on a committee?
Yes. All board members serve on a committee and are expected to participate in committee meetings (or as needed).

Can I serve on more than one Catawba board at the same time?
No. Alumni may serve on only one of the following boards at a time: Chiefs Club Board, Board of Visitors, Board of Trustees, Catawba Black Alumni Network Board, or the Alumni Board of Directors.

Who is eligible to serve?
All alumni are eligible for consideration, including those who have previously served on the Alumni Board of Directors.

How are Alumni Board Members confirmed to serve on the board?

The Alumni Board welcomes interest and recommendations from the Catawba College community for open board positions. All inquiries are thoughtfully considered with attention to the board’s needs, and the diverse experiences and perspectives candidates bring. Prospective members are reviewed and discussed by the board, and confirmation is made through a board vote. Those selected are then invited to serve for a full term.
