The Morris K. Udall Foundation awards merit-based $5,000 scholarships to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue careers related to the environment. To be considered, applicants must be reviewed and nominated by the college.

The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) administers programs designed to help college students pay the costs of higher education.
Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS)
FELS can help you obtain the degree you want at Catawba and do not have to be repaid in cash if you stay in North Carolina to work in your field. FELS are available for qualified students who are committed to working in North Carolina in areas with a critical need for more employees such as nursing, teaching, allied health fields, and medicine. In order to qualify for FELS, you must be a North Carolina legal resident, maintain satisfactory academic progress according to the policies of Catawba, and meet minimum GPA requirements. To apply or for more information, call CFNC at 1-866-866-CFNC or visit cfnc.org/fels. The application and all supporting documentation is due by April 1st.
Golden LEAF Scholarship
The Golden LEAF Scholars Program is designed to assist current high school seniors and North Carolina community college transfer students. Recipients must be from certain rural counties and demonstrate both financial need and merit to attend participating North Carolina colleges and universities. The scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation through a grant to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. The number of years of scholarship support depends on the degree sought and the number of credits transferred. For more information about this scholarship and to apply please visit CFNC.org.
There are thousands of scholarships and grants administered by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). UNCF awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending UNCF member schools and other schools across the country.
The Hispanic College Fund, Inc. (HCF) is a private non-profit organization founded in 1993 to develop the next generation of Hispanic professionals in America by awarding scholarships to deserving Hispanic students. HCF accomplishes its mission by securing the funds needed to award financial assistance to students seeking to afford a higher education in academic disciplines leading to careers in business, science, engineering, and technology.
Building better lives, revitalizing Indian communities and replacing despair with hope is the mission of the American Indian College Fund. Through AICF’s scholarships for American Indian college students and support of America’s tribally controlled colleges and universities, the Fund gives hope to, and creates better lives for, generations of Native American students and their families and communities.
