Scholarships
Catawba College is grateful for the support from alumni, friends, churches, corporations and foundations who have invested in establishing named funds for the support of people, programs and facilities.
Endowed gifts provide an opportunity for donors to provide for Catawba in perpetuity. The College invests the principal of an endowment gift and a portion of the annual interest earned is used to support the purpose selected by the donor. Endowed funds are part of the college's permanent endowment and are used primarily to fund scholarships. Annual scholarships are not endowed and are awarded from the annual contributions to the fund.
Types of funding opportunities:
- Presidential Endowed Scholarships (minimum funding level $150,000)
- Athletic/Talent Based Endowed Scholarships (minimum funding level $100,000)
- Need/Merit Based Endowed Scholarships (minimum funding level $25,000)
- Named Endowment Funds (minimum funding $25,000)
- Annual Scholarship Funds (funded with annual gifts)
Categories of support:
- Presidential Endowed Scholarships ($150,000 provides approximately $6,750 yearly) - Presidential Scholarships are the most prestigious scholarships Catawba College has to offer. Students must maintain an average GPA of 3.0 to qualify.
- Athletic/Talent Based Endowed Scholarships ($100,000 provides approximately $4,500 yearly) - Students are selected based on athletic team or fine arts talents.
- Need/Merit Based Endowed Scholarships ($25,000 provides approximately $1,125 yearly) - All students in good standing are eligible to receive.
- Named Endowment Fund - These funds provide program or maintenance support for the specified program or building.
- Annual Scholarships (not endowed) - Annual Scholarship Funds are maintained with yearly gifts of a specified amount. The continuation of the scholarship fund is dependent upon the annual gift.
All endowed funds may be established over a five year period.
Student Eligibility
It is not possible for students to apply for any scholarships individually. Students who have completed the application for financial assistance at Catawba College will automatically be considered for any of these scholarships for which they may be eligible.
